Drawers are an important part of our homes, and cabinets are made up of many hardware components, such as hinges, pull-out baskets, basins, drawer slides, and more. Many people don't know what types of drawer slides there are, and those who do know don't fully understand their characteristics! Let's talk about the types and characteristics of drawer slides.

1. Roller Slides

This type of slide is relatively old and is the first generation of silent slides. Since 2005, it has been gradually replaced by other slides. It consists of a pulley and two tracks, but has poor load-bearing capacity and lacks buffering and rebound functions. It is often used in small item storage drawers in the living room and bedside table drawers in the bedroom.

2. Ball Slide

Currently, metal slides are typically divided into two- and three-section designs. These are simple to install, and are most commonly installed on the side of a drawer, saving space. Ball bearing slides are gradually replacing roller slides, becoming the mainstay of modern furniture slides and the most widely used.

3. Gear slide

Gear slides, also known as concealed slides, are categorized into concealed and saddle-drawer slides. Their advantages lie in smoothness and high synchronization. Like ball bearing slides, they offer a cushioned closing or push-to-rebound function. They are primarily used in mid- to high-end furniture, but their high price tag and low popularity are significant. However, due to their higher price, gear slides are less cost-effective than ball bearing slides, making them less popular. However, with the continuous improvement of socioeconomic standards, it is foreseeable that this type of slide will become a future trend.

4. Damping slide rail

Damping slides utilize the cushioning properties of liquid to slow down drawer closing. Hydraulic pressure is used to slow the drawer down during the final closing distance, reducing impact and creating a comfortable closing experience. Damping slides are generally categorized as ball bearing damping slides, concealed damping slides, and saddle-type damping slides. They are commonly used in drawers in cabinets, bathroom cabinets, and furniture.

Finally, to sum up, different drawer slides have different performances, and friends can install and use them according to their characteristics. You can also choose the type that meets the cost-effectiveness according to your own budget.
